After a 15-year-old girl delivered a baby inside the washroom of a Government school on July 20, it was found that she was raped by her neighbour in northwest Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, the police said on Saturday. The accused was arrested on Friday and was presented before the court on Saturday, the police added.
The girl had gone to her school for her exam and during the exam she went to the washroom as she started experiencing stomach pain. She delivered the baby inside the washroom.
After the school authorities came to know of the incident, they rushed the girl to a hospital. The hospital authorities informed the police about the minor girl delivering a premature baby, they added.
After the girl gained consciousness, she narrated her ordeal to the police. She told the police that she had been raped by her 51-year-old neighbour for the last one year. He would call her to his room on some pretext where he had sexually assaulted her around four-five times.
Even after her stomach protruded, the family members did not realise that something was amiss. They thought that she was suffering from gas-related issues. After she identified the accused, he was arrested on Friday.
She told the police that after she complained of stomach ache, he even gave her abortion pills but he was not aware that they did not work. The pills created complications and she delivered the baby in the 26th week itself, the police said.
He told her that he used to give Rs 500-800 so that she does not reveal about the matter to anybody. The accused belongs to Bihar. While his family stays there, he has been residing here alone and works as an autorickshaw driver.
