The model-turned-actor-turned-entrepreneur talks to ANCHAl SHARMA about her new audio show, what makes it so interesting and different from other chat shows and her latest movies slated to release next month
Tell us about your chat showIJ
No Filter Neha is an audio show I have produced under my production company Bigirl Productions. luckily, we had an opportunity to collaborate with Saavn who thought it was a good idea and the association just happened. In this show, you will see me chatting to some of yours and my favorite celebrities in the industry about things that haven’t been spoken about before.
How did the idea come aboutIJ
I just felt that it was high time one had a general unfiltered conversation. I am always been very enamoured by how people have preconceived notions about celebs. But when you sit down with them and have a conversation, you come to realise that they are just like us. That’s where the idea came from. I wanted to tell people that celebrities are people too and no different from them.
What kind of preparation did you have to doIJ
I had to go through a lot of research. If you put up anything which is available on Google, Wikipedia etc, it doesn’t make sense to put it online, because people will say, ‘we already know these things about this people’. The show had to have information that is not available so that people would take notice.
What makes this show different from other chat showsIJ
First, this is not going to be a radio show. Second, this is not in an interview format. For me, my guests are not celebs. They are friends who are famous and we will be in conversation with them. We will be providing a new and an improved version of an audio chat show. It’s different. This is the first time that an insider is doing an audio show with people from the film industry. That is what makes this show different.
How did you persuade the celebs for an unfiltered conversationIJ
People are smart and witty on this show. May be the comfort factor that comes because I am friends with them, it makes it easier for them. But nobody can say, ‘I can’t answer this question’. Either they are witty enough to answer it or smart enough to circumvent it. It’s fun to be with them.
How many episodes are going to be telecastIJ
Season I has 12 episodes. We have just completed the 11th episode.
Who will be the next on this showIJ
There is a surprise guest. I want people to know who it is but, for now, I have to keep quiet. People will enjoy some candid interviews with Anurag Kashyap, Arjun Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Farah Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Vishal Dadlani and Yuvraj Singh.
How has your journey from model to actor and then entrepreneur beenIJ
It’s been interesting. I am ready to open a new chapter in my life. That doesn’t mean I shut the old one. When I became an actor, I continued to model. As a producer I continue to act. It’s just like the opening line of Bunty aur Babli: “Yeh world hai na world is mein do tarah ke log hotey hain ... ek jo sari zindagi ek hi kaam karte rehte hai aur doosre jo ek hi zindagi mein saare kaam kar dete hai.” As a producer, I would like be involved in creativity and garner new talent.
If you got an offer from Big Boss, would you like to thereIJ
I get this offer all the time but I say ‘no’ every time. I may come across as somebody who is okay about talking about everything. But, my private life is very private and I wouldn’t like to fix camera on it ever.
Any upcoming Bollywood plansIJ
I have a film releasing this November, Moh, Maya, Money. It’s a thriller based around a Delhi couple. It is an independent, small and interesting film, the ones I like to do. Ranvir Shorey is my co-star in the film.
