More Koffee ?

Come December and Karan Johar will be back with his steamy cuppa Koffee. Only this time, promises to be much spicier and oh-so-hot! In 22 epsiodes, through celebrities, KJo will bring to his audiences all that’s happening behind the scene and beneath the sheet. Talk is that Salman Khan will open the mega chat show on Star World but Johar tells Deebashree Mohanty that he will be spilling beans only on his upcoming show

Oh yeah baby get the drum rolling... I’m coming very soon,” an exhausted Karan Johar tells you over the phone. He insists that the promotions for Koffee With Karan (KWK) Season 4 haven’t taken a toll on him, but a source whispers that the maverick producer-cum-director has hardly slept for the past four months.

Staggering! “I was excited about the show so obviously sleep was the last thing on my mind. I was too busy preparing questions for my guests and approaching them to be a part of my chat show,” KJo says. He adds that after the first three seasons, not many stars want to grace his hot seat.

“It’s a spicy unadulterated show where celebs feel they can get away with candid confessions. let’s face it, everyone wants to know what is going on in their favourite celebrity’s life. Through KWK, we aim to give celebs a platform to connect with fans. And I’m happy with the response we’ve got in previous seasons. Season 4 is going to be much more than just a sequel. Wait and watch,” Johar says, adding that this time round, the concept will revolve round ‘behind the scenes, beneath the sheets’. “I don’t think we’re allowed to get any more spicier than that,” he tells you with an impish smile.

Ask him about the kind of questions one must expect and KJo shrugs it off. “Everything. Just about every little behind the scene moment that any star wants to recall. I would know most of them personally and I’ll be happy to refresh their memories,” Johar says.

The final guests list has not been prepared yet but there are quite a few jodis who have given their nod to be a part of the show. In 22 episodes that comprise this season, we may get to see some first-timers as well.

“Apart from jodis and stars who will be promoting their film through KWK, we’ve drawn up quite a few beginners who have been in the news. They have an interesting tale to tell and that gives them direct entry to the show. I would love to have Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor sharing some details about their kabhie haan kabhie naa relationship status. There will also be a few mothers who will grace the show. In short, the guest list is comprehensive,” he insists not willing to divulge any more for the moment.

Rumours are rife that Salman Khan (Karan and he made up on the sets of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6 recently) will open the show for his new dost.

“It’ll be great if Sallu bhai gives me that pleasure but I can’t confirm any name at the moment. But, it’s going to be a grand opening for sure,” is the only thing that Johar is willing to share. But he does tell you that Sallu will be a part of the season.

The channel has been pursuing KJo since 2011 but the filmmaker had a very tight schedule owing to back-to-back releases that year and the next. Even now, KJo had to divide his time between Hrithik Roshan starrer Shudhi and KWK.

“I feel now is a good time to bring the fourth part. A lot has happened since 2011. Many new relationships have come to the fore. Many more fresh faces have entered Bollywood and we’ve seen so many marriages and babies being born. There is a lot more to talk about now,” the master entertainer tells you.

A little birdie tells us that Johar has been training hard to get back in shape before he starts shooting for the chat show.

“I’ve always been very concerned about fitness. Earlier, I had no time to hit the gym but now I take a break from all the running around and indulge in some physical activity. That’s why many people spotted me at the gym. Don’t read too much into it,” he warns. Although he says it is the brand new set that he is most excited about.

Till December 1 (that’s when the show goes on air in Star World) one has to make do with the broadway esque promotion.

“I have always been a great fan of the broadway style. There is a certain stylish yet raw sensuality towards it. We had great fun shooting for this promo and I believe it has managed to do its job. It is a good entry for the show and I hope we are able to sustain audience interest throughout the episodes,” he says.
