In yet another incident of moral policing, a gang attacked a higher secondary school student and her elder brother presumably mistaking them as lovers from different communities at Mukkom in Kerala’s Kozhikode District which had witnessed a murder of a 26-year-old businessman by moral cops in November, 2011.
Abdul Salam (26), hailing from Valiyaparambu, Karasseri near Mukkom, and his sister were attacked near the Higher Secondary School at Anayamkunnu on Friday evening. The gang of moral cops attacked the siblings with wooden rods and other weapons. Salam and his sister were admitted to a private hospital with injuries.
A case had been registered against two persons, Mirshad and Savad, both belonging to Anayamkunnu, for the attack and they had been charged with attempt to murder, the police said. A special police team, headed by Jaison P Abraham, DySP, Thamarassery, Kozhikode, had been formed to probe the incident.

The attack took place when the boy had reached Anayamkunnu to pick up his sister who was returning from the school there after attending a study camp. local people said that the assailants had connections with an extremist organisation. The police took into custody the bike the assailants had used.
The gang pounced on the siblings as they were standing at the market at Anayamkunnu talking to each other at about 5.30 PM Friday. local residents said that the gang continued to attack them even after they said they were siblings.
