National club Mohun Bagan has strongly refuted charges of falsely implicating Justice Ashok Ganguly in a sexual harassment case for passing an adverse order against it while arbitrating in a game related litigation.
Justice Ganguly, a former Supreme Court Judge and currently the Chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission, was accused by a former law intern for conducting himself in a sexually “unwelcome” manner during an interaction with her at a five start hotel in Delhi about a year ago.
Reacting strongly to “suggestions” that Mohun Bagan had got the WBHRC chief framed to avenge an adverse order he passed against the club in an arbitration case against East Bengal Club, Bagan assistant general secretary Srinjoy Bose said, “There is no question of relating the two issues as Mohun Bagan has a long heritage.” With his back against the wall “Justice Ganguly who has no escape route now is trying to bring wild charges against the club that too after so many weeks of the charges being brought against him,” Bose said.
“How can Mohun Bagan be involved in the case as the Judge himself had called the intern to a Delhi hotel where he reportedly gave him dictationsIJ How could our club know as to who Justice Ganguly will call to help in his work,” he wondered insisting the Rights Panel chief was trying to catch hold of any straw that was coming his way “but the law is fast catching up with him.”
