'Modi, Mamata alike in unleashing one-man rule'

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday painted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with same brush and said they were trying to eradicate all the Opposition parties who stood against them.

launching a scathing attack on Modi and Banerjee he said while the Prime Minister thought that “there should be only one leader in the country that is Narendra Modi in Bengal Mamataji thinks there should be no leader in the State except her,” alleging the “Prime Minister is trying to impose only one ideology of Nagpur on the entire country.”

Gandhi was speaking at his first election rally at Kulti an industrial town off Asansol where the left leaders like former Marxist MP Bangsagopal Chowdhury also joined him on the stage.

Alleging that the Prime Minister was trying to finish off Congress in the entire country “as we are the only party who are fighting against the BJP” Gandhi said “he toppled the Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh Government by money power but did nothing in Bengal where Mamata Banerjee’s Government was involved in Saradha scam the biggest scam ever in the country.”

Alleging that both the leaders ran their parties single-handedly without listening to others’ views he said “even their own MPs sometime confide in me that they have no freedom to express their views and that only person’s views matter in their respective parties.”

The left and the Congress were fighting jointly against the Trinamool Congress in Bengal.

“Without the help of the Congress the Trinamool could never have come to power in Bengal but after coming to power they have indulged only in scams as we can see from the Saradha, Narada and other such scams where their leaders are openly taking money.”

Attacking Banerjee for projecting a false image of integrity he wondered “she talks of honesty but does nothing against her own leaders who are seen taking bribe publicly.”

Asking the people to vote for the Front led by the Congress and the left he said the new Government if it came to power would be the Government of all where no one’s views would be suppressed and appealed to the Congress men to “hold the hand of the left so that we can give a successful coalition Government in Bengal.”
