A 13-year-old boy was murdered after being abducted by his two friends, including a juvenile in North-East Delhi's Shahdara, police said on Saturday. The accused demanded Rs30 lakh from the boy’s father for his safe release. Jatin Sharma went missing from his house on Thursday and his body was recovered from an abandoned area in Rathi mill, near his house on Friday evening.
During investigation, the police found that the deceased was seen with Mohit Chaudhary (18) and a juvenile friend, who live in the same locality. The police took Chaudhary in their custody and interrogated him.
Mohit Chaudhary told the police that he along with a juvenile abducted the minor from outside his house and then took him to Rathi mills and strangled him to death within minutes of kidnapping him. The accused then went back to their houses and helped the family in search for the missing boy.
In the meantime, the victim's father, Chander Shekher Sharma, received an SMS from an unknown number, demanding Rs30 lakh for the boy's safe release. "The mobile phone which was used for sending the SMS, was in the name of juvenile's father," said a police officer.
The juvenile also told the police that Choudhary had made a plan to earn easy money to meet their day to day expenses. Police said the juvenile has been sent to the juvenile justice home, while Choudhary has been arrested.
