Ending the uncertainty of last three days, the outlawed CPI Maoists on Saturday set free the six abducted leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samiti in Khammam district. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Warangal Range Malla Reddy said that the hostages were released late last night in the forest and they trekked back to Charala.
The kidnapping of the ruling party leaders on Wednesday evening that create an atmosphere of fear in the area. The CPI Maoist had demanded an end to the policy of police encounters and called for stopping the combing operations by the police and security forces.
However, the release came out without any formal talks between the government officials and the Maoists. But the family members and relatives of the hostages who had trekked deep in to forest to trace their near and dear ones might have played a role in persuading the Maoists to release the captives.
Speculations were also rife about backdoor negotiations by the senior TRS leaders. Those released include district leaders of TRS Mane Ramakrihna, D Satyanarayana, Patel Venkateshwarulu, Janardhan, Rama Krishna and Suresh. Families of the hostages heaved a sigh of relief over their safe return.
