He is one of the most prolific cinematographers in the industry. But with Tapaal, laxman Utekar has proved that he can direct, act and pen down lyrics just as beautifully. He is also a great dancer. Bollywood celebs reveal the shades of laxman:
Imitiaz Ali: I am very moved by this film. It is a pure and simple story. laxman and Mangesh as a team are quite superb. Till some weeks back I had no idea that laxman was a budding director and when I saw Tapaal, I am convinced he has a long way to go. He has penned down lyrics for the film too and has acted brilliantly. In fact, now I am contemplating on offering him a role in my film!
Boney Kapoor: Superb film. I have enjoyed each and every minute of it. Wish I could also come up with something as good as Tapaal. The entire team including the technicians and spot boys should be lauded for their efforts. It comes as a surprise that laxman is a great actor too!
Sridevi: I have worked with him in English Vinglish and he is a very nice gentleman. Full of humour and completely down-to-earth. Not everyone knows that laxman is a brilliant dancer too. He can set any stage on fire
R Balki: It is a very sensitive subject dealt in a very sensitive way. laxman has always had the wish to become a director and that used to reflect in his work as a cameraman. He has proved it to the world that if you dream big, you can achieve it too
