Khiladi Kumar is back at what he does best — delivering the punches at the right places. ‘As Shoaib Khan in Once Upon a Time..., I’m ready to roll’, Akki tells Deebashree

He is suave, intelligent and definitely not seedhe saadhe Akshay Akshay — the star is all set to prove himself as a diehard villain — a look he has been sporting ever since Ekta Kapoor announced the sequel of Once Upon a Time In Mumbai.

“I love playing a slightly grey character like the one I am playing in this movie. These roles are more exciting and certainly more challenging than the run-of-the-mill character roles that we get to play every so often,” Kumar, who was in Delhi to promote his latest film Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara, says.

Known to be a method actor, Kumar says he put in a lot of extra effort to get his character (he plays Shoaib Khan in the film) right. The 45-year-old actor agrees that it was the unique dialogues and his longtime understanding with producer Ektaa Kapoor that made him shelve other projects to accommodate this special film.

“The film is very close to my heart because of a number of reasons — I play a don, so I am obviously very powerful and I like that situation. Second, the sequel has some very promising moments. Third, Ekta is a very close friend  and she is hoping to get a grand response for this film, so I am going all out in support of her,” Kumar says.
