What is a mediumIJ It is someone or something that is used for a particular purpose. This article is about human beings, who are used or have been used by god for specific purposes. The most famous example is Arjuna, who was used by lord Krishna in the Mahabharata war. When Arjuna enquired from lord Krishna about who exactly he was, “Please tell me who you are of this fierce form” (Bhagavad Gita 11.31). The lord replied, “I have appeared on this plane to destroy all those who are present in the opposing armies.” (11.32) The lord was referring to the armies that had assembled on the side of Duryodhan, who was bent upon doing adharma (irreligion). He, then, told Arjuna, “O Savyasachin, these people have already been killed by me only; just be the instrument/medium.” (11.33)
God uses human beings for other purposes as well. The following are the most notable ones, who have qualified by their hard work and dedication to be thus chosen. Sure enough, god empowers them in order that they succeed. These are: A preacher, who takes the messages of god to the masses; a writer, who explains spiritual texts or messages in a language which a common man can understand; a benevolent leader; scientist or researcher, who is working on inventing medicines and cures for diseases which afflict mankind; a businessman, who donates generously; a social worker; an artist; an honest judge; an honest police officer; and an editor, who presents facts.
Scientists and researchers have made their places in god’s heart. God loves businessmen who donate generously. A social worker, who toils for the downtrodden, is very dear to god. Artists, who are intent upon creating things of unimaginable beauty, are not far behind. An honest judge, who punishes the evil, is a direct representative of god. So is an honest police officer, who does his duty by catching criminals and bringing them to justice. lastly, in this day and age, an editor, who presents facts for the readers, is also very special.
This is very good, ie being empowered by god to carry out specific tasks, but what benefits do they derive by doing soIJ I have listed below a few from my personal experience. First of all, god loves all such persons; he really does. WhyIJ Because they are engaged in the welfare of the mankind. Remember, god created us, and whoever works towards their welfare becomes very dear to god. God has definite plans for such persons. In order for them to succeed, he arranges all facilities for them through his divine energies.
Needless to say, whatever they come up with has already been done. Many scientists, writers, preachers, artists have experienced feelings that they were not doing anything; someone else was at work. Not only does god provide all the resources for such fortunate persons in order that they succeed, but god also helps actively in their efforts by giving them intuitions: Sending help, as required; removing obstacles, which come in their way; and warning them of the pitfalls ahead. lastly, they always remain in god’s protection. Whatever happens to them is for their good, only barring old age, diseases and death, which all material bodies are subjected to. They cannot be exceptions in this regard.
Now I will like to acquaint you of some details of the roles of a medium or messenger. He or she must always tread the path of dharma, ie follow god’s instructions as mentioned in bona fide scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita. A medium must remain focused on his/her duties at all times. His/her mind must be under control; all the senses must be highly disciplined. Surely, there must be some connection with god either an overt one or though the heart, ie by thanking him for all that he does.
In the end, I can tell you with all my sincerity that once someone becomes a medium of god, he or she will never wish to be without this privilege. The satisfaction, the feeling of fulfillment, the pride in self, the peace which prevails, and the bliss experienced are some thing others can only dream about. I welcome your comments.
