AJIT KUMAR BISHNOI explains how life can be beautiful even in the midst of innumerable problems within it
Is it not a pipe dreamIJ There are so many problems in our lives like diseases, failures, just to name a few. Of course, problems are indeed unceasing in everyone’s life; nevertheless, life can still be beautiful, provided we can manage to do what has been taught to us from childhood. I have tabulated some of them for your perusal.
Starting with something very basic, we should try to eat simple foods, which are wholesome and nutritious. This will ensure good health, which is crucial for enjoying life. Similarly, our thinking must be controlled to ensure peace of mind.
Not many exercise regularly. Consequently, we don’t feel energetic and also invite diseases. Human body has been made for being active. We have convinced ourselves that comforts are paramount, which isn’t really intelligent.
Next comes being dutiful. Not only should we do our duties well, but we should not consider them burdensome. Doing duties brings excellent results. And while doing duties, we should always be guided by dharma (righteousness). One who does so reaps enormous benefits.
We should take inspiration from great personalities. Unfortunately, we become jealous of them and don’t learn from what they have shown in their lives. Similarly, we should learn to appreciate the small things too. If we wait for big things to happen, we may have to wait long.
let us try to do something creative in our spare time and feel pride flowing through us. We derive similar pleasure by spending time with children or playing with them. Their innocent happiness rubs on us. Enjoying the natural bounties, which God has provided in plenty, are not far behind.
Next comes helping others, which gives enormous satisfaction, and has to be done to be realised. We must be kind and thankful to people who serve us and fill up voids in our lives. Very few appreciate them. This is highly unfortunate. Similar mood is required to adjust with family and friends. We should be generous in appreciating others; making friends even with family members becomes easy then.
We must accept the world as it is; we will be severely disappointed if we try to live on our terms. Not only that, we must be prepared to accept the inevitable suffering of this world. No one is immune to them. One must also have patience for results of fruits to come, because they come at their own time. And we must give up negativity if our lives have to be beautiful.
lastly, we must develop a loving relationship with God by doing our chosen spiritual practices regularly. This one act of ours will make our lives blissful, which is difficult to imagine for a non-doer.
Is doing all these not difficultIJ Yes, it is. That exactly is the reason why not so many lead quality lives in spite of having wealth, power, etc. If you are not doing these, get started on them right now. You can begin on a few and will realise their benefits. That will spur you to do more. Wishing you good luck! I welcome your comments.
