Amid the raging controversy over the lynching of one person at Bisara village in Greater Noida over the issue of alleged beef eating, RJD supremo lalu Prasad, who loves to be at centerstage of controversy, said on Saturday that many Hindus also consume beef. “Don’t the Hindus eat beefIJ They eat in foreign countries and even in India,” he said and created a new controversy by saying, “There is no difference in beef and mutton for the non-vegetarians. But consumption of meat is not a good thing.”
lalu also tweeted beef eating has been raked up by the BJP and a section of media in desperation. “They are defenseless on the issue of reservation and its expansion and trying to hide behind the issues like eating or not eating beef,” he tweeted.
Taking strong cognisance of lalu’s utterances, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, also famous for giving controversial remarks, said lalu was sullying the image of Hindu society for the sake of votes. “If he will not take back his words we will start an agitation against him from his own house,” Singh tweeted.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh while addressing an election rally in Banka on Saturday also touched this issue. He said lalu was making baseless statement. He should instead tell people what he did for Bihar and its people during his 15 years of rule, he added.
