Daya Rani Kinnar, a renowned eunuch of Ghaziabad, was found dead at her residence in Kaila Bhatta area on Saturday morning. Daya Rani was the head of a eunuch group with an influential background. She had contested lok Sabha, Assembly and mayoral polls, police said. Family members said that Daya had retired to bed at about 11 pm on Friday night. In the morning when her assistant Shama went to her bedroom to serve tea, she was found dead.
During the investigation, it was found that she was shot in the head. Heavy security force has been deployed at Daya's residence while her body has been sent for post-mortem. CCTV footages from her residence are being examined to identify the assailant. “The window of her bedroom was found open. Probably the assailant used a sophisticated weapon which was equipped with a silencer due to which no one could hear the sound of the shot. Being a famous person, heavy police force has also been deployed at her residence. Since she possessed heavy cash and jewellery, the robbery aspect is not being ruled out,” said Ajay Pal, SP City.
