Kingpin of Fantastic Four gang held on wife's plaint

A wanted fraudster, Manish Kaul, a resident of DlF Capital Greens at Moti Nagar, who was allegedly the kingpin of the ‘Fantastic Four’, a gang known for a series of cases of fraud, was arrested on Saturday by the Delhi Police from the Mansoravar Garden in West Delhi's Kirti Nagar.

The arrest came after police had come to know of Kaul planning to attack and possibly kill his wife at a dental clinic in the Mansoravar Garden area. Police believed that this was in revenge for a complaint she had filed against him earlier.

“His wife lodged a complaint against him at the Moti Nagar Police Station in March this year. She accused him and his family of dowry related harassment and also informed police of a number of fraud acts that her husband had committed. This probably provoked him to go after her life and plan the murder on Friday”, said a police official.

Following the complaint, a joint team of policemen from the Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar Police Stations was constituted and immediately dispatched to the spot to nab Kaul. After a brief encounter in which a policeman got injured, the team arrested him and recovered the pistol and the cartridges.

Kaul had been declared a proclaimed offender by police earlier and was wanted in a number of cases in Delhi, Chandigarh and Goa.

According to police, Kaul used to falsely introduce himself as a medical doctor before people, including his wife at the time of their marriage in 2015. He had committed a series of fraud by purchasing jewellery and new cars through fake demand drafts and cheques from several showrooms of Delhi, Chandigarh, and Punjab. Also, he had been arrested once earlier from Mumbai in 2008 and had spent a jail term too.
