Senior BJP leader and former Delhi Finance Minister Jagdish Mukhi on Saturday criticised the Arvind Kejriwal Government’s plan to present a vote-on-account on the floor of the House of Delhi Assembly instead of presenting a full-fledged Budget. The BJP leader alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal Government has failed on its electoral promises.
In a Press statement issued, Mukhi said that Kejriwal had taken oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on February 14 and he had one-and-a-half months to present the Delhi Budget in time by March 31. “But he has failed to comply with his statutory duty to present the Budget on time,” he added.
Mukhi said that a vote-on-account is taken to give sanction for expenditure. In the meantime, people of Delhi have the right to know about the state of expenditure and the income of the Delhi Government. The former Finance Minister alleged that subsidy provisions announced by the AAP Government cannot be part of the vote-on-account.
