Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) party has provided only 214 employments in Delhi in 2016-17 to April this year while it had promised to give eight lakh jobs.
Also, Maken said at a time when 82 per cent posts of the Employment Exchange of Delhi Government, which render employment services to the job-seekers, are unfilled then how the Delhi Government could give employment to lakhs of people, he asked.
Out of the 357 posts in the Delhi Employment Exchange (DEE) only 18.5 per cent has been filled which means 300 posts are yet to be filled, he said. Referring to the Delhi Government's Statistical Handbook, Maken said 1297364 people had been registered with the Delhi Employment Exchange up to December 31, 2016 and if the figures for 2017-18 included, the figure would go up to 15 lakh.
According to a Right to Information (RTI) query filed by party's RTI cell, DEE has provided jobs to102 people in 2016 while 66 people got placed in 2017 and only 46 people were placed up to April 2018. “The data shows that instead of giving employment to eight lakh people, the AAP government in Delhi has given employment to only 214 people, starting from 2016 to April 2018.
Maken further said a target to provide employment to 5000 people through Job Fair was set in the output-outcome budget of 2017-18 of the Directorate of Employment. “With a target to provide only 5000 employments in a year, how the government would provide jobs to lakhs of people,” he askedIJ
Meanwhile, Vedant Verma, son of former Janta Dal United Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Verma joined the Congress party. He was given the party's scarf by Maken. Arvinder Singh lovely, party's chief spokespersons Sharmistha Mukherjee, senior leader Chattar Singh were also present on the occasion.
