JD(U) won't tie up with 'enemy' Cong

The JD(U) on Saturday drew a parallel between the 2002 Gujarat riots and the 1984-anti Sikh riots, dismissing speculation about a possibilities of a tie-up with “enemy” Congress.

“Our views on Gujarat riots are clear. But the Congress certainly has no moral grounds to question Narendra Modi when its own leaders were involved in the 1984 riots. There is no question of forming a Government with the Congress. God save us from this party. We have seen what they did to Chandrashekar, IK Gujaral and HD Deve Gowda, who relied on the Congress,” JD(U) chief general secretary KC Tyagi told reporters.

Tyagi admitted having some issue with the BJP, but called the latter a “friend”. He added, “You do not bargain or put pressure on friend. You register your grievances. The BJP is a friend.”

Tyagi’s remarks come against the backdrop of reports about a possible tie-up between the Congress and the JD(U) if the Bihar party breaks ranks with the NDA. Incidentally, some posters were put up at the venue of the Executive Committee meeting showing the JD(U) leaders leading the charge against the Congress in the next general elections.

The posters, put up at the venue by the Tamil Nadu unit of the JD(U), showed Nitish Kumar as Arjuna and party president Sharad Yadav as Krishna on a chariot in the ‘2nd Mahabharata war in 2014’, a euphemism for the general elections.
