Jayram blames Modi Govt for not generating enough jobs

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Jayram Ramesh on Saturday blamed Modi Government for not generating employment opportunities in the country.

Addressing a press conference at Ahmedabad, Ramesh said that in the past two years Modi Government could generate less than four lakh jobs against its claim to generate 2 crore jobs per annum.

“As per the Union Government’s figure, only 1.50 lakh jobs were created in the year 2015 while nearly 2 lakh jobs generated in 2016. Due to scarcity of jobs, everyday on an average 35 farmers are committing suicide,” Ramesh added.

The former Union Minister came down heavily on Modi Government’s decision of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination currency notes saying that demonetisation decision was taken on November 8, 2016 but after almost six months, the Modi Government had not divulged details on how much money had been deposited in the banks.

The former Minister also criticised Government’s policies on Minimum Support Price (MSP) of grains and pulses.
