Jagriti, Singh, wife of BSP MP Dhananjay Singh, believes that political aspiration of her husband resulted in him paying little attention to her. This may have compelled Jagriti to react violently.
She also said that her husband was ‘jealous’ of her. While admitting to have treated her helps inhumanely, Jagriti in her statement told the police that her husband was convinced that she was talented enough to become a political leader. Maybe this had made Dhananjay insecure. She also suspected that another help Meena had an illicit relationship with her husband.
A senior police official said that Jagriti in her statements has accepted that she used to beat up her domestic helps with sticks. On the other hand, Meena, another domestic help who was also subjected to the cruelty of the MP's wife, alleged that Jagriti while beating her up used to say that she suspected her of having a relationship with the MP.
Describing the way Jagriti beat them up, Meena aid that the MP’s wife used to run after them to thrash them. Police sources further revealed that Jargriti was even irritated with the fact that the two domestic helps (Rakhi and Meena) had lured the 17-year-old boy who worked at their house to conspire against her.
Jagriti told the officers that she had, a few months back, seen Rakhi and the juvenile in a compromising position; which is why she increased the number of CCTV cameras in the house.
Jagriti purposely burned the stomach of Rakhi and the juvenile to prevent them from coming closer.
Meanwhile, Dhananjay told the investigating officers that Jagriti also beat him up and it was because of this that he took her for medical help wherein doctors had prescribed her medicines for a year.
He claimed that in the divorce petition filed by him against Jagriti he also stated that her behaviour was one of the reasons he shifted out of the house as she did not allow people from the MP's constituency, friends and family members to meet him.
Jagriti had earlier slapped and abused the Private Assistant of the MP. Due to this, none of the staff members including the drivers discontinued their work at their residence.
Meanwhile, the MP and his wife who are lodged in Chankayapuri Police Station did have proper food. The MP just has fruits and does not interact much whereas Jagriti keeps cribbing about her career being ruined. A medical examination of the MP conducted on Friday shown low blood pressure.
