A day after getting relief from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, Karti Chidambaram filed a caveat in Supreme Court in anticipation of a possible appeal by the enforcement agency against the Delhi High Court order protecting him from ED arrest till March 20.
In the caveat filed by Karti's lawyers in the apex court on Saturday, the son of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has requested the Court to hear him before passing any order in the event an appeal is filed against the Delhi HC order of March 9. Karti, is being probed by both Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and ED for alleged bribes received from INX Media company as a quid pro quo in lieu of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval granted to it at a time when his father was the Finance Minister.
At present, Karti is in the custody of CBI. The ED too has lodged a enforcement case information report (ECIR) to track the money trail in the INX Media case.
