The actress-turned-producer is out with Season 2 of No Filter Neha. She speaks with Akanksha Soni about why she chose an audio platform, how is it different from other chat shows and working with Vidya Balan in upcoming movie Tumhari Sullu

You haven’t been seen in Bollywood for a long time, what have you been up toIJ

I have been doing very small-scale movies. I apologise for not dancing around multi-crore films but having said that, I did a film last year called Moh Maya Money. I have also been working on the movie Tumhari Sullu that will be out on December 1. It also stars Vidya Balan and it has been great working with her. She came over for one of the episodes of No Filter, and she has been amazing.

What is the concept behind No Filter NehaIJ

It’s an unadulterated, unfiltered witty conversation with my famous friends and we just decided to put it on Saavn. Season 1 did interestingly well and now we have Season 2 coming out too. That is pretty exciting.

What is the difference between No Filter Neha and similar showsIJ

It’s completely different. Getting into a comparison with shows that don’t have the same kind of definition as mine would be different. A lot of people compare it to Koffee with Karan as we have the same kind of guest list; we have similar or overlapping people. However, the first and biggest difference is that No Filter Neha is on an audio platform. The second thing is it’s not a debate, when compared to Arnab’s. And last, Karan talks about very relevant very funny situations where he takes you and he plays really fun games. With No Filter Neha we get into research, we go into people background, and we call up cousins and country cousins and get information out of them. Then we remind the guests of situations that they have been in that they’re fans have never heard of and we talk about it.

Why choose an audio platformIJ

This is first time I am coming in as a producer. I thought it would be better if I start small. I wanted to enter a market that’s a little more untouched and untapped as opposed to being in a place that’s already crowded and crowded with good content. You can have different kinds of talk shows and get out different trivia about people, but there is limited place as to how far you can move away from what’s already out there. I thought the audience through this medium would be different if I went audio and it would be safer as a producer. As a first time producer this was how much I could handle.

Will you expand to other platformsIJ

There is always conversation flying around, whether we want to go for a video platform or not. There are promos that give you an idea of what the video looks like. But you go season vise. Season 1 was really good and so we got into Season 2. The plan has always been that we do two seasons in audio and

if the third happens we will go for video. Whether it will be candid or a BTS release or organic remains to be seen.
