Ayesha Kapur, who shot to fame for her role in Black, talks to Trishna Das about why she left Bollywood & how she made it big through Ayesha Accessories, launching her blog and making a comeback to Bollywood
After giving a great performance in Black, you left. WhyIJ
My parents were worried about how name and fame in Bollywood would affect my growing years. They wanted me to have a normal childhood. We went back to the US which is one of the best things that happened to me. I am lucky and appreciate what my parents did for me. Now, I am interested in making a comeback to Bollywood and looking for some good opportunities.
What inspired you start Ayesha AccessoriesIJ
My mother and I travel a lot and our love for accessories inspired us to start it. We wanted to create something that is affordable for the younger generation who is looking for stylish yet simple accessories. We are now planning to launch a blog which will keep us close to our customers through interactive sessions.
How do you get ideas for the collectionIJ
We constantly do research, search the Internet and get inspiration by traveling the world. This helps us to keep an eye on what is trending in the world. Fashion keeps re-occurring. Stripes are in right now. I can wear some of my grandmother’s clothing that she gave me. There are certain trends that never fade and some new innovations are keep happening.
How has the fashion in India changedIJ
People in India like to mix and match. They are adopting more western styles and pairing it with bangles. Classic Indian designs have become funkier. Even a lot of other brands are doing that, so Indian fashion is moving towards fusion.
How do you define fashionIJ
Fashion is about being comfortable, it is an expression of oneself. You try to create your own style and find who you are and express that through what you wear.
What would you like to explore in lifeIJ
I really enjoy reading and writing. I would like to study journalism. I want to write a fiction, that will be nice.
