Hyderabad liberation Day: Shah leads celebrations

The Hyderabad liberation Day or Telangana Merger Day was celebrated by all the political parties in the State on Saturday.

While the State’s ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti observed the day as “Telangana Merger Day”, the BJP celebrated it as “Hyderabad liberation Day”.

For the first time BJP’s national president Amit Shah took part in the programme and addressed a public meeting in Hanmakonda in Warangal district.

While lauding the role of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Patel in “liberating Hyderabad State from tyrannical and repressive rule of the Nizam”,

Amit Shah strongly criticised the TRS Government for not celebrating the liberation Day officially.

“The BJP will come to power in the State in 2019 and we will celebrate the day officially,” Shah said, warning KCR not to rely on the support of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Asaduddin Owaisi.

“Today’s date is important not just because it is the birthday of Narendra Modi but it was on this day that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel forced Nizam to surrender and merged Hyderabad State into India,” he said.

Recalling that Hyderabad got freedom a year after India’s freedom, Amit Shah attacked the Nizam of Hyderabad for using Razakars against the people. “Thousands of people were killed and mothers and sisters were humiliated,” he said.

“Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is not celebrating because he is afraid of Owaisi. He is ashamed”, Amit Shah said.
