HSRP centres for old cars to open in June

Starting next month, you can get high security registration plates (HSRP) affixed on old vehicles too. The transport department is likely to issue a notification soon for vehicles registered between 2009 and 2012.

"We are focusing initially on vehicles registered between 2009 and 2012, with 15 centres in different parts of the city. The number of centres will subsequently be doubled. Vehicle owners will be given three to four months to get tamper-proof plates fixed," said Karn Nagpal, senior vice-president of Rosemerta Technologies.

Till now, the focus had been on new vehicles and 13 centres were dealing with the cars. "The idea is to open a centre every 5 km, so people don't have to travel long distances to get the plates fixed. Fifteen centres will start functioning from the beginning of next month and the remaining will come up by the end of next month," he added. The centres will stay open from 9 am to 7 pm, seven days a week. The company has short listed 15 centres in high population density areas such as Badarpur, Mayapuri, Dwarka, Wazirpur and Shahadra, among others.
