The Dragon and Elephant have come together in a rare fusion of Chinese painting made by a Buddhist spiritual guru Master Jinke Xuanlei. Jinke and his two disciples through this special work of art called Esoteric Vajrayana Dragon and Elephant Mandala depicting both Ganesha and Buddha have tried to promote peace and friendship among the two countries.

The painting is said to have prayers to protect both India and China from evil and miseries. It was unveiled by  Chinese Ambassador le Yucheng at a special function here on Thursday to mark the 65th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between China and India. In fact, the painting is one of the several art works on display at the ‘Exhibition of Fine Arts of Contemporary China’ at the India Habitat Centre.

The huge Ganesha-Buddha painting (about 21.3 ft long and 9.8 ft wide) was made by Jinke with the help of his two disciples in just three days. It was made non-stop by these three, amidst special Buddhist ceremony conducted throughout the work. Ganesha is believed to be the second Buddha in China, as the ‘Guard God’ who drives away miseries.

Chinese officials said the exhibition is an attempt to promote India-China friendship through paintings. It has 80 works by 18 artists on display, as part of celebrations to commemorate 65th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between China and India.

Apart from the Vajrayana Dragon and Elephant Mandala paintings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Chinese President Xi Jinping and one of Mahatma Gandhi are also attractive.

“We have brought here various styles of Chinese artwork to celebrate the special relationship that the people of China and India have had for so many years,” said National Art Museum of China Director, Wu Wishan.

“We feel grateful for the celebration of age old friendships between India and China. We are very anxious to see these paintings go to other young people are able to see wonderful paintings,” said BJP MP Tarun Vijay at the inauguration.
