Gzb Women hire car to Doon in, driver robs them midway

Unidentified car borne robbers looted two women passengers of their cash and fled leaving the “helpless” victims on the road. The incident took place on Saturday morning near Raj Nagar extension under Sahibabad police station in Ghaziabad.

According to police, a woman along with her son was waiting for the bus to Dehradun at Mohan Nagar halt when driver of a private car started ferrying passengers for Dehradun. The woman decided to board the car rather than wait for the bus. She along with her son and an another woman who was also going to Dehradun boarded the car.

However, after covering about a kilometer, the car driver said that since the car is a Government vehicle it needs to be registered at a point on the road side.

He allegedly said to the passengers that the officer may verify from them about the cash they are carrying and ask them to put it in an envelope.

Following which the two women put their cash in the envelop. Then the driver asked the women to leave the car for a few minutes so that the officer could see the car empty.  On the return from a makeshift wooden cabin, the driver returned and snatched the envelop from women’s hand and fled the spot.

The helpless women cried for help but all their efforts proved futile.  They returned to the Mohan Nagar police post and informed the police.  One woman told her address at Vasundhara sector -5. She told that her father in law is the retired manager from state bank of India. Her husband is a manager in a private company while she works as a teacher with a private school.  She was going to her parental house in Dehradun in summer holidays. But she returned and told the police that the robbers in garb of car driver looted Rs 7,000 cash. The other woman left for her home without complaint to police.

“We have received the complaint and an action will be initiated to nab the robbers” said SSP Vaibhav Krishna.

Having been unable to find a bus for some time, they hopped into a private car when they saw the driver was inviting passengers to Dehradun. Another woman, going to the same place, got into the car with them.
