Gzb industries on a power trip

Ghaziabad industries will remain without power, at least, for a week due to damages to the transmission lines by Friday’s thunderstorm, said UP Power Corporation limited (UPPCl) official to a delegation of Ghaziabad industrialists.

The General Secretary of Site IV Industries Association Sahibabad said when a delegation of industrialists met the UPPCl Chief Engineer, he informed them that three towers of main power transmission lines had collapsed in the storm and it was impossible to repair them before a week. “Although a team of dedicated engineers has been assigned to repair the damaged towers but after assessing the quantity of damage to the transmission line, the team has reported back saying repairs would take at least a week’s time,” said Abrar Ahmad, Chief Engineer, UPPCl.

Power officials, in the meantime, asked industrialists to arrange power from private generators so that the commitments of production are not impeded. In addition to the damages to the UPPCl, Ghaziabad suffered losses to other properties. Motor vehicles parked under the trees were damaged when trees fell on them. The domestic power supply also suffered a hit when the uprooted trees disrupted power supply in residential colonies.
