Ghaziabad municipal councillors on Saturday took to begging, a day after they polished shoes, to press for their demand of release of the “pending” infrastructure fund for development of Ghaziabad.
The councillors, who sat with begging bowls, threatened that if their demands were not met their family members would join the agitation. The MlCs have been on a hunger strike at the district HQs to press for release of Rs 160 crore Infrastructure Development Fund by the UP Government for development of the city. They said a demand draft would be made from the proceeds collected from the protests and sent to Azam Khan, the Urban Development Minister of the State, to “grease the palms” of officials for the release of the fund.
