A member of the infamous ‘Gulel’ gang has been arrested in connection with a series of thefts in the Capital.
The gang is known for using children to check parked cars, break the windows with a catapult and then walk away with the valuables kept inside them. Kanhiya lal, 23, a resident of Madangir near Ambedkar Nagar in South Delhi, was arrested from South Delhi’s RK Puram area on October 14.
“He (lal) along with his associates committed dozens of incidents of stealing from cars in Delhi using catapults and minor children,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath said.
With his arrest, Nath said, police have worked out two incidents of theft in the adjoining areas of RK Puram in south Delhi. "During investigation lal confessed to be involved in around 25 theft cases but so far only two have been worked out," Nath said.
