While alleging that the Congress leaders are only busy minting money, former BJP national president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said it intentionally ignored price rise. He said the entire system has become corrupt and because of that food inflation rose above 18 per cent in India, however, in foreign countries it is around 4 per cent only. He was speaking at a rally in Dwarka, which was also addressed by BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi along with several other senior party leaders.
He also promised to make Delhi green if BJP wrests power in the Capital. “We will plant 1.25 crore trees with the help of NGOs and other organisations to make the city green. Also, we vow to construct 25 cold storage units across the State to create more space for storage of vegetables and other items to control price rise and check inflation,” he said.
The BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for Delhi Dr Harsh Vardhan also spoke on the occasion. He announced that they will complete the proposed 500-bed hospital in Dwarka on priority basis. The Delhi Government has failed to do so in the last 15 years. “When the BJP retains power, it will start work on the hospital and will try to make it operational in a limited period. The Government will also stop tanker system of water distribution in the region and will extend water pipelines in every nook and corner of Dwarka,” he further said.
Earlier addressing the rally, Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel lashed out at the Congress for stooping to a new low by running personal smear campaigns against BJP’s prime ministerial probable Narendra Modi. “Pamphlets targeting Modi were distributed personally along with newspapers, which is highly deplorable,” he said.
He said that it was an act of desperation by the Congress and it only reflects Congress’ frustration at the growing popularity and mass appeal of the BJP leader. “The Congress party knows that it has lost political ground in Delhi and other States too. So, it has stooped to a new low in electoral politics by trying to tarnish the image of Narendra Modi,” he added.
Highlighting the failures of the Congress Government at the rally at Dwarka’s Sector 14, DDA Park, Goel said, “Dwarka sub-city has severe shortage of water supply as the Congress has paid no attention to the pressing demands of the people. In the last 15 years of its misrule, the Congress has only managed to deliver unprecedented rise in prices, acute water and power crises, corruption in the rank and file of Government and a highly unsafe Capital for women.”
