With Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) moving the High Court against the appointment of Joint Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena as the chief of Anti-Corruption Branch, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Saturday took a dig at the Kejriwal Government and demanded the AAP to clarify its stand on Constitution. Bidhuri alleged that the AAP Government is deliberately targeting Meena as he was supervising the Gajendra Singh’s murder case and the party had apprehension that Meena may create problem for them in the investigation.
Bidhuri said, “The way the Delhi Government has been reacting on the appointment of Meena as the ACB chief reflects the desperation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia.”
While reminding Kejriwal of his 49-day stint where he, in a Press conference, had requested the lt-Governor to place more officers and some senior officials in the ACB, Bidhuri questioned him and said, “Today the Delhi Government is trying to deny the lt-Governor’s role in ACB appointments but in his 49-day stint Kejriwal had on February 11, 2014 told in a Press conference that the Government has requested the lt-Governor to place more officers in the ACB and appoint some senior officials too. One fails to understand whether Kejriwal was talking constitutionally last year or today.”
Putting his confidence in Meena, Bidhuri said that Meena has an untainted record and the way he undertook the matter of unnatural death of farmer Gajendra at Jantar Mantar, he added, has created a fear psycho forcing them to stand against the ACB head.
Bidhuri added that Meena’s matter is not the only matter where this government has created a controversy but this has gained prominence as the government is trying to deny a lawful appointment made by the lt-Governor as prescribed in the rule books.
