“Naxals damaged a rail track on Kirandul-Visakhapatnam route that falls under Bhansi police station limits, due to which three wagons of a goods train and its engine got derailed,” Superintendent of Police of Dantewada district, Narendra Khare said on Saturday. According to the police officer, Saturday was the last day of their ‘Dandakaranya bandh’, which had been on since the last week.
After the incident, teams of police personnel as well as railway officials have reached the spot and the railway administration has already launched the track restoration work, he said. However, since the spot is located inside the forest area, the railway staff is finding difficulties in carrying out the restoration work.
