With the eighth edition of the Krackerjack Karnival slated from April 15-17, children and parents throughout Delhi-NCR are eagerly waiting for a fun-filled weekend. PRAKRITI ROY catches up with the festival’s founder to know what it’s all about

The Krackerjack Karnival is all set to host its eighth edition from April 15-17, 2016, to make sure that children in Delhi-NCR can make the most of their long weekend off from school. This time being held at Epicentre, Gurgaon, the festival will see a host of new activities and new things for the kids to enjoy.

Speaking on how she first came up with the idea of having such a festival for kids, founder Chandrika Behl says: “I wanted to do something that is purely for children and their families. A sort of celebration of children where they can experience new things.”

Over the past eight years, the scale of the carnival has only grown bigger with more exhibitors and vendors joining in each edition. The last edition at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium saw some 40,000 people in attendance.

“Since the entire point of the show is to give the kids a chance to experience, we have a lot of experiential and interactive activities for them such as a musical petting zoo where they can pick up any instrument and play; lots of sports; zumba workshops; a stage where something will happen every 20 minutes; science workshops; and so on,” explains Behl.

Add to that, the upcoming edition will see popular characters like Minions, Iron Man and Hulkbuster, who will be doing ‘meet and greet’ with the children and be holding quizzes too. The main age group that the festival wants to attract are those in the 4-12 age bracket. However, there is something to do for anyone between the ages of 0-14. In fact, there are activities related to coding and recycling for the slightly older kids.

Priced at `200 per ticket for one day (children under five can enter for free), the festival is the place to take your little one next weekend to do something out of the ordinary.
