The Special Investigation team (SIT),  probing the sensational murder case of   Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg’s wife on Saturday, claimed to have recovered the  fourth bullet shell from the spot where her body was found at the Parade Ground at Gurgaon Police lines.

The recovery of the fourth shell comes with a new twist in the murder mystery and the theory of the SIT. Officials of SIT earlier claimed to have found three bullets fired in the incident, which hit Geetanjali and the shells for which had been found. The fourth bullet shell has been sent for ballistic and forensic examination.

Geetanjali Garg’s family has all along  alleged that she was murdered.

Now, there is speculation that she had received three bullets while protecting herself from the shooters. The person who shot her is supposedly someone close to her or known to the family. However, a case of contract killing is not being ruled out, considering that parents of the victim in this high-profile case, have been alleging that she was being harassed for bearing two girl children.

The Gurgaon Police interrogated the family of CJM Ravneet Garg on Saturday again and the servants and employees at his official residence.

According to the Gurgaon police, earlier told that Geetanjali had scolded a driver and a peon employed at home for not being regular. But the officer said that the chances of peon or driver killing Geetanlji are remote.

The SIT earlier theory was that as per the post-mortem report that one bullet hit Geetanjali's stomach while another bullet hit the chin and pierced through her head. A third bullet was also fired which scraped by her neck.

Surender Pal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) said the recovery of fourth bullet shells indicated that more bullet have been fired in the incident and earlier we have investigated three bullets had pierced through Geetanjali's body.

“One bullet did not cause any damage to her body, a second bullet pierced her stomach but did not cause immediate death and a third bullet entering below her chin and crossing her head can cause immediate death. But we are investigating the case with positive angles,” he added.
