Three women and a minor girl were buried alive under a mound of earth at Tigaon village, police said on Saturday.
According to police spokesperson, a group of women were digging mud when a mound caved in. Two women — Batasho (65) and Vati (50), died on the spot while Sunita (27) and Preeti (13) succumbed to injuries in a hospital. Apart from them, 40-year-old Suman broke her leg in the incident and is being treated in a hospital, he said. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and a probe is on, he added.
Separately, scores of people staged protests and blocked the road near Patel Chowk area here against the alleged killing of a 10-year-old boy and demanded a probe into the incident.
