The charred six-storey building of Natural History Museum wears a deserted look four days after an inferno gutted treasures of the building.

“No work has been initiated yet. It has been four days since the incident took place. All the burnt items are yet to be moved,” said a security guard present at FICCI building. Till Friday, a part of the building has been covered with poles and green cloth hinting the beginning of reconstruction.

Fire broke out at the historic building on Tuesday in which a host of historic treasures were reduced to ashes. According to a fire department official, “Around 6.45 am, the fire was brought under control and cooling operation was started. However, at 8 am fire broke out again on the sixth floor.” Before 50 fire engines could douse the inferno, the blaze gutted all the natural treasure and 15,000 books in the museum situated beside the building of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Tansen Marg.
