Delhi Police have arrested a Delhi-based businessman Hardev Singh for faking an attack on himself to implicate Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his manager. Following his confession, police have also arrested his cousin Devender who was also involved in the conspiracy. Singh and his wife Jasmeet Sethi run a film production unit in Mumbai.
The family nursed a grudge against Khan and his manager Reshma Shetty as the actor allegedly turned down an offer to work with them. Jasmeet along with her daughter created commotion outside the actor’s Bandra Bandstand residence a few months back. A senior official said Hardev convinced his cousin Devender that if he could help him frame Salman Khan and his manager on a false case, they would be able to extort money from the duo and put pressure on the actor to act in his film production.
“Both have been arrested as they were involved in fictitious complaint of attempt to murder. During the investigation, the statement given by Hardev created doubt. It came to our notice that Hardev Singh’s wife Jasmeet Sethi was the one who created commotion outside Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai some time back. later, it was also revealed that wife and daughter of Hardev run a film production unit,” said DCP Central District Alok Kumar.
During the investigation, the possible involvement of Devender came to the fore. During his cross-examination, Devender confessed to having committed the crime on Hardev’s insistence. “Devender also involved one of his friends Gurjinder Singh, who is still on the run,” the police official said. On September 16, Hardev approached police and alleged he was shot at by two persons on a bike in Karol Bagh area and blamed Khan and his manager for the attack.
