Former IGP, Farooq Khan, a 1994 batch IPS officer who retired in 2013 and till recently serving as Administrator of union territory Lakshadweep, was formally appointed as advisor to J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik late saturday night.
A formal sanction order was issued by the General Administration department ( GAD) late saturday evening.
Khan had earlier joined the BJP ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and was given key positions, including the charge of the party’s minority cell and North East Affairs.
