Controversial Western Uttar Pradesh politician DP Yadav’s role is being probed by South district police after a private vehicle was recovered from his farmhouse Yadukul in Vasant Kunj.
The Maruti Gypsy registered in the name of Yadav’s driver Arvind Kumar was fitted with red beacon, a sticker and the official logo of Delhi Police and resembled a Police Control Room (PCR) van. A criminal case has been lodged at Vasant Kunj South Police Station. Investigators are probing the role of Yadav and his henchmen for being in possession of a vehicle souped up as a Black Maria. Musclemen stationed at Yadav’s farmhouse even attacked police personnel when they entered the farmhouse to confiscate the vehicle.
Additional DCP, South district, Pramod Kushwah, said that they have issued a notice under Section 160 of the CrPC to the driver of DP Yadav and others. It is a serious matter since a private vehicle was made to look like a patrol wagon. Whether it was being used as an escort vehicle or for some ulterior purpose is subject to investigation, he said. It is also being investigated what was the motive behind buying a vehicle in the name of Yadav’s driver and then using the same as a paddy wagon.
A criminal case under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Vasant Kunj South Police Station against the accused persons after they failed to appear before the Investigating Officer (IO) on Friday. Police had already arrested three employees of DP Yadav, identified as Amit Singh Pawar, Vishwanath and Havaldar, on charges of preventing Government servants from carrying out their duty, intimidation to kill, and attacking the staff of Vasant Kunj South Police Station. The trio had attacked beat constables when they had gone to the farmhouse to take the possession of the police carrier in question. Yadav’s men tried to remove the red flasher and the Delhi Police sticker from the vehicle to erase all evidence. Police is now planning to
register another criminal case against Yadav’s men on counts of extortion and misusing the emblem of Delhi Police, a police official said. The vehicle was noticed parked inside the farmhouse by inspector Ved Prakash, the SHO of Vasant Kunj South, when he accompanied a monitoring team from Supreme Court. The monitoring team had visited farmhouses in Vasant Kunj to see for themselves the illegal constructions made, including the farmhouse of Yadav located at 10 Green Avenue, Vasant Kunj.
