EXTRAORDINARY RISE OF AN EXTRA ORDINARY MAN

Aware of the huge responsibilities thrust upon him, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday cautioned the people that he doesn’t have a magic wand to solve the problems that Delhiites face.

He exhorted the people of Delhi to join hands with him to cure the malaise the administration is suffering from. Kejriwal also had a word of caution for his Ministers and asked them to remain  grounded. “Do not be arrogant. Service to the people should be your motto. We have not come here to be Ministers and should avoid what other parties have been doing all these years”, he added.

The Chief Minister promised a phone number the people could call up on to complain about officials demanding bribes. He asked people not to turn away those who demand bribes, but help the Government in catching them red-handed by laying a trap.

Kejriwal invoked his mentor and social reformer Anna Hazare. “Anna used to say that politics is dirty. Two-and-a-half years back, Anna staged a 13-day fast to eradicate corruption and pass the Jan lokpal Bill. We did every possible thing, we fasted and staged protests, but things did not change. It dawned upon us that unless we become part of the Government, we cannot get rid of corruption,” he said. He continued in the same flow, “We could not think of such a revolution. When we started the Jan lokpal movement, we never thought we could ever oust corrupt parties from power. It is nothing less than a miracle and is only a beginning,” the Chief Minister said. Aware of the challenges ahead of AAP and his Government, Kejriwal added, “If we take the right steps, I think India can finally become a golden bird in the next five years.”

The Chief Minister also invoked Allah, Ishwar, God and Guru Granth Sahib repeatedly to tell the people that the formation of the AAP Government in the National Capital Territory of Delhi was nothing less than a miracle and this could not have been made possible without the blessings of the Almighty. He concluded his speech by singing, Insaan ka insaan se ho bhaichara, yehi paigam hamara (Our message is that all humans should live in peace and observe brotherhood) amidst thunderous applause.
