Exhausted Sreesanth vomits during grilling

The intense grilling by the sleuths of Special Cell of Delhi Police has left the Rajasthan Royals speedster Shantakumaran Sreesanth exhausted and drained out. Although he vomited during his interrogation on Friday, his condition is now said to be stable.

A senior official involved in the investigations said that for Sreesanth, it was two days of sleepless nights and no bath as he was not comfortable with the bathroom of the Special Cell. Secluded in the small cell, he mostly looks depressed and breaks down often during interrogation. "Sreesanth, who had refused dinner on the first night of his stay in police custody, had Rajma-Chawal on Friday, but during the second round of questioning, he vomited as he was crying frequently," the sources added.

Police sources said that after vomiting, the investigators immediately informed the senior officers about it, but he was well after taking medication. However, his two Rajasthan Royals teammates Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila have been having regular food. "On the first day, he shared the cell with his teammates, but now he is alone. He has not slept for the past two days in the barrack due to the hot weather. There was one cooler outside his barrack and was given a mattresses to sleep on," the sources added.

On Saturday, the sleuths of the Special Cell again questioned Sreesanth about his involvement in Spot Fixing and also confronted him with his two teammates. After sometime he broke down. "He behaves normally otherwise and speaks to us too. He was not comfortable with the bathroom of the police cell and did not take a bath," police sources said.

Police sources further said that this was the first occasion when the trio confronted each other since their arrest on last Thursday. They were questioned separately on Friday.

The suspects confessed to their crime, but blamed each other for dragging them into Spot Fixing. "The accused cricketers, who are in police custody, were brought before each other in the Special Cell's office in lodhi Colony of South Delhi and were questioned for two hours," the sources added. During a separate interrogation session on Saturday, 11 bookies, all of whom are in police custody, were also made to confront each other.

Meanwhile, it was told that police will record the trio's voices to match with the ones over tapes of conversation calls recorded between them and bookies, which were intercepted by the Special Cell. The test of voice samples will be conducted at the Forensic lab in Rohini.
