Seeking to involve Delhi residents in the decision-making process, the Delhi BJP on Saturday began with its interactive sessions with RWAs in the city. During the first such meeting with RWA at Safadarjung Enclave, Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay sought to know their views on the development of Delhi and their expectations from the BJP. According to the BJP, the initiative aims at connecting to the masses. The party also plans to hold meetings with youth, women, senior citizens, and professionals, traders associations and NGOs and asking them their suggestion to make Delhi a better city. On Saturday, the party had invited RWAs to directly integrate and share their vision with the BJP by exchanging their thoughts with State unit president Satish Upadhyay.

BJP’s interaction with the RWAs and other social groups assumes significance in wake of the possibilities of re-elections to the Delhi legislative Assembly. The party leaders have already been holding meetings with various Union Ministers and taking up the issues concerning Delhiites. Sources said this is being seen as the preparations for the elections as possibilities of Government formation appear bleak in the Capital.

A senior party leader said the BJP public participation is preparing the roadmap for the city. “The party is seeking suggestions from RWAs, NGOs and prominent people from various spheres of life for their inputs in making Delhi a city class apart. As BJP leaders put it, involving the residents of Delhi would prove fruitful as they have better understanding of the problems in Delhi and their suggestions would help the party in envisaging all-round development of the Capital,” he said, adding after series of interactions, the party leaders would study them and then would take the valued inputs to the Central leadership.

The party has also said that it would seek inputs from the students from universities and educational institutions such as Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia. “Students are well-versed with the issues of Delhi. Those from outstation would be able to apprise us about their issues with the State, while the residents of Delhi would suggest us ideas for a better city,” said a senior party official.
