Tipai, a luxurious wellness sanctuary in Maharashtra, combines eco-friendly design with unique dining and immersive nature activities for mindful travellers, says RUPALI DEAN
As a weary urbanite with a penchant for wanderlust, I frequently find myself yearning for an escape, somewhere the cacophony of city life fades into the soft whispers of rustling leaves and the soothing fragrance of earth after rain. Enter Tipai, an exquisite wellness and wildlife sanctuary nestled in the heart of Maharashtra’s Tipeshwar Forest. A collaboration of visionary Keyur Joshi and culinary alchemist Chef Amninder Sandhu, Tipai is where eco-luxury recrafts the art of hospitality.
Nature Beckons: Living in Luxe
Tipai is uniquely crafted, bringing together the best of sustainable design and immersive nature. My abode, a self-cleaning bio pool villa, exudes rustic charm with a touch of modern minimalism, adorned with local kulhad clay accents that merge seamlessly into their surroundings. Outside, expansive verandas invite me to soak up the serene ambience, while open-air bathrooms, with views that sway between foliage and sky, create a delightful harmony with nature. It’s a curated experience, where each detail has been fashioned with care by the keen eye of principal designer, Ariane Thakore Ginwala.
Culinary Journeys: A Feast for the Senses
Dining at Tipai is a voyage through taste and culture that celebrates local heritage. With Chef Amninder Sandhu at the helm, I find myself enchanted by the fresh, hyperlocal degustation menus. Each meal becomes a story, with dishes sourced from the regions of Maharashtra, MP, and Andhra Pradesh featuring on my plate. Palaash beckons for al-fresco dining, harmonising local flavours with international flair, while Talaabwali enchants at sunset with Indian dining classics like sumptuous Dum biryanis and tender kebabs. This serene setting beside a lotus pond is nothing short of magical
