From the quirky interiors to the lighting, everything sets the mood at the Vault Cafe in Connaught Place. Add to that a robust menu which has something from every nook in the world, and you have an must-go option to eat out. Deebashree Mohanty tells you more

looking for a place to chillax, munch on delicacies and sip some molecular cocktailsIJ Head to the Vault Cafe situated bang in the middle of Connaught Place. The cafe is buzzy at all times of the day but the real fun begins when the sun goes down. “The Vault is the perfect place for you to let your hair down, sip some exotic cocktails and sample world cuisine at its best. You want the tikkas and the masaledaar Indian curries, we bring it to your table piping hot. If you prefer the mediterranean platter or the chinese-styled prawn sauteed, we make it happen for you. In short, we cater to all palettes and every sort of a crowd,” Umang Tewari, the young enterprising owner of this property tells you.
Right from the decor to the taste, everything about this place is unique. There are private rooms which can accommodate pronto parties in small groups, there is ample seating area for guests and a lot of room to walk about! “A restaurant has to be spacey and well presented. Personally, I would never go to a place that has no room for the guests to move about. At the Vault, we want our guests to feel completely at home,” Tewari says, as the bartender serves his signature Raspberry Swizzle and Mai Tai.
Tewari who is the man behind other theme-based restaurants like OTB in Hauz Khas Village and Fork You which is a sensation with the teens, believes he has caught the nerve of his guests. “They are tired of the same-old hotels and cafes which dish out the regular stuff. They want innovation in food and drinks. There is also a huge demand for quirky sounding names of dishes. But what drives in a lot of people is a robust menu bringing the world at their table,” he says, laughingly.
At this haunt, for example, you will find a Malaysian laksa, Thai curry, a Cordon Bleu and Korean Beef Bulgogi. There are lots of other stuff to choose from and be sure to keep some space for the yummy desserts. The dimsums, which come in as many as 14 varieties are an absolute must-have. Ask the chef to make you a platter where you could sample a lot without feeling too guilty about it. If you are in the mood for some light continental, opt for the grilled fish in lemon caper sauce or the falafel wraps. Also go for the Dahi Kababs.
