As the Aam Aadmi Party  completes 100 days of governance on Sunday, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) claims to have achieved 100 tasks and initiatives that were long overdue for the people of Delhi.

Highlighting the new reforms introduced in the past 100 days, DJB claims to have provided free water (about 700 litres a day) to around 10.5 lakh consumers. Reduction in water development charges from Rs440/sq. m to Rs100/sq. m and sewer development charges by 80 per cent gave a  sigh of relief to the people of  unauthorised colonies.

By taking over services of Dwarka from DDA, dependency of residents of Dwarka sub-city on tankers reduced substantially. The reduction in water bills has  majorly relieved the residents of Dwarka as DJB tariff is lower than DDA tariff.  For the first time, 100 per cent billing is being done through handheld devices. Areas in the West like Mahavir Nagar, Krishna Park and Ganesh Nagar of Tilak Nagar area have also been extended water supply, which has proved beneficial to around 6,000 people. The option of late payment surcharge of Rs186 crore was waived benefiting thousands of consumers. It has also prepared regulations to check the flow of disposal into drains and prevent pollution in river Yamuna. Initiatives have also been taken for clean Yamuna, which include preventing sewage flow into the river and drains. A comprehensive action plan is being drawn up at Rs3,659 crore for tapping wastewater flowing into Najafgarh supplementary drain.
