large number of individuals and organisations in India came forward to support the Disability Empowerment in India while awards were given to people with disability for their "dedication" and hard work.

NS Parthasarathy, Vice Chairman, Mindtree, on the occasion of NCPEDP-Mindtree Helen Keller Award Ceremony said no person is "disable" of doing something extraordinary in the world. "I do not like to use the word disability, I would rather say differently-abled because everybody has the ability of contributing something to the society," he said.

"I think supporting people with different abilities is something close to our heart. Right from the time we started, we have around 50 employees with disabilities who are working in different departments. The areas include software developers with limb disability, architectures with no hearing capability, which instantly gives visibility to millions of people that autistic children have capabilities that organisation can use. We have ensured that everyone in Mindtree is friendly with differently abled persons," he said.

Cegeo Thekkel, an associate trustee and supervisor, AMBA Core Centre  is the perfect example of empowering disability community. After receiving the award, Thekkel said, "I am working here for 12 years and manage quality checks of the team of 25 peer data operators. My work is to train visiting Special Educators from AMBA Certified Partner Centre pan India."

Out of 189 employees there are 151 people with disabilities associated with AMBA Core Centre. Thekkel has been awarded for being role model for disabled person.

Pankajam Sridevi, Managing Director, ANZ Bengaluru said, "We have around 6,000 employees and 150 are with them the person with disabilities, the 10 percent of the total hiring. It's a small number and we are focused a lot on hiring persons with different disabilities as we believe that everybody is good at something.

“So we are putting efforts to make our premises disable friendly and it's a constant effort, one time effort will not make a complete organisation disable friendly. We have disable friendly toilets, wheel chairs, even the plug points have been made keeping in mind the accessibility of specially challenged people."
