In an attempt to provide residents of the city a chance to cherish 68 years of India’s independence, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has decided to showcase the freedom struggle through a laser show for four days on the outer glass wall of Delhi’s tallest building, the Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Civic Centre.

Senior officials in NDMC have said that the laser show will begin from August 13 and go on till the end of the week. An official informed, “The theme of show will revolve around on the different aspects of India’s freedom struggle besides the concept of laser show to highlight the various watershed movements during the tryst for independence.”

According to the civic body, the intention of this laser show is to instill a spirit of patriotism and nationalism amongst the people especially the younger generations who had been deprived of their glorious heritage of valor and unparalleled sacrifices due to lack of knowledge.

People passing through the Jawaharlal Nehru Marg will easily be able to witness this laser show. “The laser shows will be conducted through the latest technology. Patriotic massages and quotes of freedom fighters and leader will be also shown,” said a senior official. However, the whole concept of show is yet to be approved by the Municipal Commissioner.

Director (Press and Information), NDMC, Yogender Singh Maan, confirmed the four-day-long show. He said, “Municipal Commissioner PK Gupta has approved the idea and it will be held for three hours for four days after sunset from August 13. Glass wall of ‘A’ block will be used for the purpose. Show will end by 11 pm.”
