Aam Aadmi Party has started to feel the heat of unfulfilled promises as both Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia are facing the ire of different protesting groups.
While a group of women from Aam Aadmi Sena protested outside CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house on Saturday, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was gheraoed by guest faculties employed on contractual basis in Government-run schools.
According to DCP (North) Madhur Verma, a group of women from Aam Aadmi Sena went on dharna outside CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house at around 11 am, and started raising slogans against the Chief Minister.
“There were around 25-30 women outside the CM’s house for around one hour shouting slogans against him. Eventually, they submitted their memorandum and left the site,” said Verma.
The protesters are reported to have been demanding that security personnel be appointed in all State-run buses for the safety of women, which incidentally was one of the major electoral promises by AAP.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was gheraoed by guest teachers employed on contractual basis in Government-run schools. The teachers were demanding permanent employment, including appointment of a Pay Committee under the Seventh Pay Commission. A permanent job for contractual employees was also one of the promises made by AAP before the elections.
Nearly 12,000 teachers are working in the MCD and Delhi Government schools on contractual basis. They have been teaching in schools for more than 10 years but have not been assigned permanent posts.
“They had ordered that contractual employees would not be terminated till further orders. Now, schools and the Directorate of Education (DoE) are terminating services of guest teachers one-by-one,” teachers averred.
According to the teachers, they had filed a petition to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his janta durbar. The CM had advised them to meet Sisodia on this issue. They have been seeking a meeting with Kejriwal and Sisodia for the past four weeks, but have been denied appointment.
Guest Teachers’ Association president Praveen Tobaria said they were not allowed to protest outside Players Building and were forced to protest under the flyover near Rajghat.
