A senior officer in Delhi Government was allegedly cheated by a property dealer who lured him with the offer of a flat. The officer, after the incident, approached SHO, ACP and DCP of the Delhi Police but none of them registered his case. He thus approached the Delhi High Court for police action but was told to approach lower court where his case was registered on the direction of the court. In other words, the Delhi Police took nine long months to register an FIR in this matter.
The officer named, Vivekananda Sharma was approached by one Jeet Singh for a flat and he asked him to deposit Rs.5 lakh. At first, the officer refused the offer but later agreed. According to Sharma, to lodge an FIR is still a difficult task in the national Capital.
last year in May, the officer transferred the money from his account in HDFC to Jeet’s account in Axis Bank. After three months passed, the senior officer in July called Jeet Singh on his three mobile numbers but no response came from him. Finding things suspicious, the officer went to see the flat where he was told that Jeet Singh has taken money from many people for this flat which is in the name of Kiran Bala his wife.
The officer lodged a complaint of fraud against Jeet Singh to DCP (EAST) in August 2014. According to the officer, the complaint was forwarded to ACP by DCP, later from ACP to SHO but no action was taken till the end of last year.
